HarbourSpot currently offers three services; users can create listings to rent berths or boats. If you are entering a listing to rent out a mooring or docking slip, select "Berth”. If you are interested in renting out your boat for overnight accommodations, extended stays or as a venue for special events, select ”Overnight on Board”. If you would like to rent your boat - with or without a crew - to vacationers for excursions of any duration (an hour, day, week, etc.), select "Charter."
The marina field automatically brings up the locations available in alphabetic order as you insert the first few letters of the marina or city. If you enter "Barc," for example, a list will appear showing all the registered marinas in Barcelona. If the marina you’re looking for is not listed, choose a marina nearby, include the exact name and city where it’s located in the description field and contact HarbourSpot at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can update the system and your listing accordingly.
Listing on HarbourSpot is completely free. When a berth, overnight or charter reservation is fulfilled, a 15% booking fee is deducted from the total amount and the proceeds are transferred to the host in the 24 hours following check in.
There are no extra charges for guests; the amount shown on the booking request includes all booking fees and taxes. Confirming a booking request will result in a hold being placed for the total amount through the selected method of payment. This hold will be released if the booking is not confirmed within 24 hours of the request or upon cancellation within the allotted time period. Funds are only transferred to the host in the 24 hours following check in to ensure customer satisfaction and in accordance with the Cancellation Policy.
Currently HarbourSpot processes all transactions in Euros (€), Japanese Yen (JPY), Canadian Dollars (CAD), Australian Dollars (AUD), British Pounds (GBP) or U.S. Dollars ($). Users can select the currency they prefer for both payment and payout.
Payment transactions are handled by HarbourSpot, ensuring secure, reliable, timely service for both guests and hosts. Proceeds from a booking will be transferred by HarbourSpot to the host within 24 hours from check-in time.
Some hosts are required by their local regulations to charge a tax. As a host, if you determine that you need to collect taxes, you should include the tax in the price per day shown on the listing. We recommend that hosts explain any taxes they are required to collect in the listing description. If your country of residence is part of the European Union, you may need to assess Value Added Tax (VAT) for the services you provide. If your country of residence is the United States, your gross earnings may be subject to U.S. income taxes. Some countries and areas also require accommodations to charge local tourism taxes. Hosts are responsible for paying the taxes relative to the proceeds made on HarbourSpot in their country of residence based on the local regulations. We encourage hosts to consult a tax advisor in their area for more information on this and for assistance assessing the taxes applicable to the services provided.
It’s much simpler; the boat never leaves its mooring in the marina. The service is to be considered a hotel alternative for overnight accommodations, a vacation rental for extended stays and a way to book on-the-water venues for special events.
The default price is set by the host; it’s the standard price shown throughout the year to guests viewing the listing. Hosts can also choose to enter customized price ranges for specific periods (e.g. high season, special events).

As a host, if you know that your berth/boat will not be available to guests during certain periods (e.g. personal use, maintenance), you should enter the dates accordingly as a blackout period when the berth/boat cannot be rented.
Upload photos of your listing by dragging the pictures into the box provided or by clicking inside the box and selecting them from your device. Once you have imported the photos, you must click "Upload" to finish the process.
Listings are checked by HarbourSpot staff before they are published on the site. Hosts must upload a valid ID and ensure that it is readable in order to have a listing published.
The docking number is used by HarbourSpot to validate the listing and, when a booking reservation is confirmed, it will enable guests to find the accommodations.
A booking starts with a request made by the guest for the berth/boat. Then the host must confirm the booking within 24 hours to approve the reservation. If it’s not confirmed within the 24-hour window, no reservation is made and no fees are charged to the guest’s account. Once confirmed, any subsequent changes to the booking reservation will be communicated to both the host and guest via e-mail and through their HarbourSpot inbox.
Yes, once a booking request is made, guests and hosts can send each other messages through their HarbourSpot inbox, which will also send a notification to the recipient via e-mail. All messages, including booking status e-mails, can be found by logging into your account and clicking on the envelope icon at the top of the page.
Numeric dates are automatically written in the EU form (day/month/year, e.g. April 2, 2015 is 2/4/2015). We are sorry if this creates any confusion.
When a host creates a listing, they must select a preferred cancellation policy. There are four standardized cancellation policies that HarbourSpot enforces to protect guests and hosts: Flexible: Full refund up to 1 day prior to arrival Moderate: Full refund up to 5 days prior to arrival Strict: 50% refund up to 1 week prior to arrival Super Strict: Non refundable
HarbourSpot requires hosts to choose from four standardized cancellation policies (listed above) that are enforced in order to protect both the guest and the host. Each listing and booking reservation will clearly state the cancellation policy. Guests can cancel a booking by clicking 'Cancel' on the appropriate reservation in the My Trips section of their user profile. Depending on the policy selected, and timing of the cancellation, either the relative guest fees will be cancelled or reimbursed, or the appropriate amount will be transferred to the host’s account.
If a guest does not show up at check-in without having canceled the booking reservation, the full proceeds, as stated in the booking confirmation, will be transferred to the host within 24 hours of the check-in time.
Customer satisfaction is our main goal. If, immediately upon arrival, the accommodations are not as stated on the listing or is in some way not satisfactory, guests can request reimbursement and the claim will then be handled by HarbourSpot staff.
